Himarë sits in the middle of the Riviera between the Llogara Pass and Sarandë. It has a small seafront town, a much older village on the hill above, and a handful of long pebble beaches with the clearest water on the mainland.

With a car it is the best base on the coast: Dhërmi, Gjipe and Jale are north, Borsh and Qeparo south, all within 30 minutes.

Beaches

Livadhi is the big one next to town. Potami is the town beach. Gjipe, between cliffs, is a 30-minute hike or a boat ride and worth it. Boat taxis from the harbour run to Filikuri and other coves in summer.

Himarë: common questions

Himarë or Sarandë?
Himarë is smaller, calmer and closer to the best Riviera beaches. Sarandë has more accommodation, nightlife and transport. For a relaxed beach week with a car, Himarë wins.
